"A Piece of Manhattan in Poznań", The City Voice

Construction work on Poznań's tallest building, the Andersia Tower, has reached the topping-out stage. A ceremony marking the successful completion of the building's shell was held Oct. 2. Taking part were the tower's designers Stanisław Sipiński (of Ewa and Stanisław Sipiński Studio Architektoniczne) and Igor Galas (of PRC Architekci). Also in attendance were Krzysztof Jankowski, managing director of Hochtief Polska Oddział Budokor; Hiren Prabhakar, IBB

Hotels managing director responsible for IBB activities in Poland, Germany and Spain; Adam Trybusz, managing director for Poland at the Von der Heyden Group; and Sven von der Heyden, chairman of the Von der Heyden Group.

The Von der Heyden Group has constructed a number of office buildings in Poland, including 5 Mysia St. in Warsaw. Sven von der Heyden said that "with the arrival of Andersia Tower in the very heart of Poznań, we will celebrate the successful finishing of a series of developments that perfectly blend into the city located on the Warta River."

These include Stary Browar, the Poznań Financial Center and the Andersia Tower, "a window on the modern, fresh and dynamic Poznań," von der Heyden said. He noted that "many years back city officials had the intelligence and were forward thinking enough to team up with an experienced developer who understood that they should not flood the market by doing the entire Andersia Square in one go, but deliver the individual buildings in smaller doses."

Andersia Tower project manager Mariusz Gaertner called Andersia Tower "a prestigious project for Poznań." It will be "one of those facilities that will make the city more modern and at the same increase its attractiveness for visitors, both tourists and entrepreneurs - all those who are attracted to the vibrant mix of things happening here." Gaertner added that "in a way, we will have a piece of Manhattan in Poznań, because Andersia will be a modern 20-story office tower with a Piano Bar at the top, commanding a breathtaking view of the city."

Another aspect of the project is the creation of new jobs, Gaertner said. The four-star IBB Andersia Hotel, scheduled to open in the spring of 2007, will hire about 100 people. The hotel will include conference and reception rooms with a total area of more than 1,000 square meters and capable of accommodating up to 800. The first employees are expected to be hired early next year.
