"Construction Oscars Presented", The Warsaw Voice
Winners of the Construction of the Year 2003 competition were announced June 25. Organizers of the competition include the Polish Union of Construction Engineers and Technicians, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Construction Supervision Office.
The awards, dubbed Construction Oscars, were granted in eight categories. The best office building cumpleted in 2003 was Libeny Corner on Mysia Street in Waraw, dasigned by the PRC Architekci studio. The owner and developer of the building is Von der Heyden Group; it was constructed by Hochtief Polska. Companies headquartered at Liberty Corner include Knight Frank Nieruchomości. Nicolas Neumann Interiors and Ivex SA - a reprcsentative of the autonomous Spanish region of Valencia. Liberty Corner has also won the Golden Drill for 2004, adwarded by Bosch, and the award Best Address for an Otiice in Warsaw 2004 from Home&Market magazine. Earlier, another projact by Von der Heyden Graup had won the title of the Construction of the Year: the Poznań Financial Center was chosen the best office building in 2000.
Another affice building won the title of Construction of the Year 2003 - the headquarters of the Hasco-Lek pharmaceutical producer in Wrocław. Other winners in the competition included the Dworzec Gdański metro station in Warsaw in the category of trade and service structures; and in the category of industrial structures and warehouses - a warehouse and office hall in Ożarów Mazowiecki, and Delitissue Hygienic Paper Production Plant in Ciechanów. Two projects were awarded in the category of sport and recreation structures; a health and vacation center in Kołobrzeg, and the Integration and Education Sport Center in Józefów. The best culture, science and education facility was the Swissmed Medical Clinic in Gdańsk. The Bulwary Rawy residential quarter in Katowice won in the category of housing structures; the section of the A4 freeway between Nogawczyce and Kleszczów was chosen the best structure of civil engineering. A Special Award was granted to the renovation project of the Pod Kurzą Stopką bastion at the Royal Castle on the Wawel Hill in Cracow.
