Poznań has unveiled its "Time Gate" (Brama Czasu) sculpture on Plac Andersa near Kościuszko Street between the modern Andersia Tower building and Stary Browar, a renovated brewery. The sculpture has been designed to blend traditional and modern architecture. The sculpture, the work of Andrzej Bednarczyk, consists of three steel blocks and two stone blocks with a water cascade. "Time Gate" stands 6.5 meters tall and occupies an area of 4.42 meters by one meter.
Bednarczyk is a famous Polish painter, graphic artist, photographer and professor at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts. "Time Gate" is an initiative of the Van der Heyden Group which wants to promote culture and art in Poznań. The group's previous projects include memorials to former Poznań mayor Cyryl Ratajski and the Polish cryptologists who broke the German Enigma code during World War II.
