An historic tenement house in Warsaw has had its facade restored.
International developer and investor Von der Heyden Group has announced the completion of the first phase of its Wilcza 22 renovation project in Warsaw's city center. The company has finished redevelopment work on the facade of an historic tenement house - located on ul. Wilcza in the capital's downtown area - in which it is now offering five apartments for sale. It also plans to go ahead with the renovation of the building's courtyard, in which approximately 20 more units will be developed.
"Given the small scale of the development it might sound weird, but this was probably the most meticulous and time-consuming development we have ever done in our more than 20-year history. However, we are now full of enthusiasm to redevelop the courtyard of the building and also bring this part back to its pre-war glory," Sven von der Heyden, chairman of Von der Heyden Group, said in a statement.
Constructed in the 1890s according to the design of Polish architects Aleksander Jan Woyde and Karol Kozłowski, the neo-Romantic building was acquired by Von der Hey¬den Group in 2000.
Renovation work on the front side of the tenement house included restoration of the original decorative facade, as well as of staircase elements which were destroyed during World War II and the following decades of communist rule. The project was carried out in cooperation with the property's owners and the municipal conservator of monuments over the last two and a half years. It cost approximately zł 13 million.
The apartments that are now available for sale in the scheme range in size from 54 sqm to 114 sqm and cost from approximately zł. 15,850 per sqm to zł. 17,000 per sqm. The units have been delivered as two-level residences and are offered in developer's stan¬dard.
